“Is déjà vu actually the specter of false timelines that never happened but did, casting their shadows upon reality?”
- Blake Crouch, Recursion
Let’s talk Quantum Retrocausation and Mentors for a second.
I’m a huge advocate of having a mentor. In my mind, having a mentor is akin to time travel. Having the right mentor in your corner on your road to your “Where” is the difference between riding your bike to New York and catching a plane.
Mentorship can come in a couple of different shapes and sizes however the main two that I focus on are, the right people and the right books. The right book can fast-track your success and shorten the learning curve on your journey. Imagine the time it takes an author to write a book. Think about how much research goes into a particular book. Then, think about the time it would take you to read that book. That’s a fraction of the time. Have you ever heard the saying that, leaders are readers? It’s said that the average CEO reads around 5 books a month, that’s around 60 books per year. Warren Buffett reportedly reads around six hours a day and recommends a person should read 500 pages a day. Wow. I have close to 400 books in my audiobook collection and I’m currently working on building up my physical collection of books. Whether you choose a paperback or an audiobook, reading will be your best friend on your road to your “Where”.
Next, mentorship is built on trust. Mentorship from a trusted individual is another game-changer on your road to your “Where”. It provides assurance and accountability from someone who’s been there. It’s, to a degree, akin to Quantum Retrocausation. Quantum Retrocausation, in short, is the theory that the future version of yourself is communicating to via clues. It says your future you is shaping your current reality. Trippy right?! Well, in the literal sense, your mentor is or should be the future version of yourself. He or she will give either correction and/or direction on your road to your “where”. One thing to note when seeking a mentor for your life.
The mentor/protégé relationship is a reciprocal relationship, meaning that it’s not one-sided. It is both give and take. In my experience, it’s more give than take. The more value that you can add to your mentor or mentors, the more value they’ll ultimately add to you. Also, understand that your mentor may not be your best friend. There will be moments when your mentor may need to correct you and you absolutely cannot take it personal. It’s a moment of growth.
Last but not least, the future is now. I want to encourage you to move today, to the best of your ability, how you plan to move tomorrow. Step into the future you today and watch your life transform.
Until next week. I look forward to jumping back into the “Where” of things with you.
