Welcome to the 1st installment of the “Where, Why, What” Series. My goal is to introduce you to some information that reshaped my thought process close to eight years ago. My hope is that this information fuels your next goal, fuels your business, and adds massive value to your life.
I’m sure you’ve asked yourself, what do those three words mean? Why did I choose those three words? I hope to answer your questions in the next few weeks and shed light on a secret that we overlook, that is actually in plain sight.
In this blog and the next few subsequent blogs, I’ll be focusing on the “Where”. Then, I’ll shift to the “Why” and eventually make my way to the “What”. In short, these three words deal with direction or destination, desire, and how we use them to achieve any goal. In fact, I’d argue that we use the Principle of Where, Why, What every single day yet we put zero thought into it. That my friend is the key, intentional application with zero thought. Now, in the beginning, it’ll be or should be on top of your mind then as you begin to work through the process, it will seem effortless. By now, I bet you’re ready for me to give you meaning behind, The Where, Why, What? Ok, here it is.
The “Where” asks the question: Where do YOU want to go? It’s literally an “end game” question. That’s why I mentioned direction and destination above. Where do you see yourself when you retire or when you’re old and grey looking back over your life? The next question, “Why”, is a lot more personal: Why is it important, why is that destination a desire or a passion of yours?
That question is important because, in life, we all face detours and when (not if) the road gets bumpy, your why will keep you vigilant, poised, and focused behind the wheel as you make your way to your “where”. The final question, the “What”, is extremely literal: “What” can you do right now, in your own strength to take one step closer to your “Where”. Notice, there are two words that I did not include in the formula. Those words are, “How” and “When. I didn’t include them because both of those words deal with power and people outside of yourself. This formula I’m attempting to outline puts you in the driver's seat of life and empowers you on your journey. However, I will address the “How” and “When” factors, just not within this series itself.
Well, until next week my friend. I look forward to jumping into the “Where” of things with you.
